Man's bicorne hat, part of the uniform worn by the Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire. Made from black silk plush, the righthand side trimmed with two wide bands of figured black silk ribbon plus a ribbed silk cockade with a curved band of velvet embroidered with silver acorns and oak leaves and finished with a silver button. There is a coiled gold thread tassel trim to front and back, with separate plume of red and white feathers The inner band is of white leather, and the hat is lined with pleated white silk. Label reads ' Davies and Son, 19 Hanover Street, London W' Approximate length overall 435mm, approximate height excluding plume 180mm. HMCMS: C1982.20.5 DPAAWM63
